Electronic Travel Authorization
Starting January 8, 2025, U.S. citizens traveling to the United Kingdom for short visits, tourism, or business, including those just passing through UK airports, will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) if they do not have a UK visa or legal residency in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
You usually need an ETA rather than a visa if you’re from Europe, the USA, Australia, Canada or certain other countries. Visit the UK ETA System to determine if you need an ETA or a Visa and to apply for an ETA. ETA is available for many non-UK citizens traveling to the UK. It is recommended that you apply a month in advance of your departure. ETA’s are valid for 2 years and multiple entries into the UK.

Invitation Letter
If you require a personal letter of invitation to attend the IEEE CEC 2027, you will be able to download an invitation letter directly from your registration confirmation email that you will receive directly upon successfully registering for the conference.
IEEE CEC 2027 cannot contact or intervene with any Embassy or Consulate office on your behalf, so please begin your visa application process as soon as you determine that you want to attend IEEE CEC 2027. Begin your visa process as early as possible (many posts have long interview wait times). Please provide complete information as possible to avoid delays in receiving your letter. You must register for the conference and pay in full before requesting an invitation letter. Many U.S. Embassies require proof of conference participation (such as acceptance of a paper or proof of registration). Some consulates will not issue a visa support letter until you have completed and paid your registration; please confirm your consulate’s requirements.
